ADMISSIONS PROCESS
You can apply for a place at King’s School by completing the online application form. You may also request a Prospectus and Application form at any time from the Admissions Office (09) 520 7784.
Along with your completed application form you will need to supply;

Application Fee of $250.00

1 x Passport Photograph

Copy of Birth Certificate or Passport

Copy of Passport/Visa for non New Zealand students

Copy of most recent school report (if applicable)

Families are encouraged to make applications well in advance of the entry point for their son(s) as we are experiencing heavy demand for places.
Once your application form is received, you will receive written acknowledgement and your son will be placed in our Applicant Pool. All applicants will be assessed on an individual basis and interviews with the Headmaster will be arranged for those who have been selected to the next stage.
Following the interview, all families will be notified as to the status of their application. Successful applicants will be formally offered a place in writing. Receipt of the Acceptance Fee ($1,500.00) will confirm the enrolment and your commitment to filling that place.

ENTRY POINTS
Early Learning Centre
Entry is open to 4 year old boys and will accept new students in Terms 1, 2, 3 and 4. Places will become available throughout the year as boys turn 5 and move on to either Transition or Year 1.
Transition
Entry is open to all boys whose fifth birthday falls after 1 March. New students begin at school in the Transition class in either Term 2, 3 or 4 (April, July, October). The following year these classes combine with the new entrants to make up the Year 1 classes.
Year 1
Entry is open to all boys whose fifth birthday falls between 1 November and 28 February. These students begin in Term 1 each year and are joined by the Transition students from the previous year.
Years 2 - 6
From time to time places become available at other year levels as families may move overseas or circumstances change. Specific requests for entrance into these years should be referred to the Admissions Office.
Year 7
Year 7 has historically been a signficant entry point for boys coming to King's School for their intermediate years. However, we have been experiencing very high demand for places at this year level as many boys enter the school now at earlier year levels. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office at least two years prior to entry if they wish to enter King's School in Year 7. The selection process commences 18 months prior to entry.

OUR APPLICANT POOL
We welcome applications for entrance to King’s School and initially place all applications received in our school’s Applicant Pool. Applicants in the Pool are not listed in any particular order and are assessed based on their merit and other factors we look for. Those who are successfully selected will be asked to bring their son in for an interview with the Headmaster for a final assessment.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
The Headmaster personally selects all applicants following an interview with your son. Not all applicants will be selected to interview when we are experiencing heavy demand for a particular year group. Some places are kept open each year for scholarship entrants and also students coming from our overseas partner schools. In addition to the Headmaster’s interview, some of the following factors are taken into consideration in our selection process:
