T
he King’s School annual cross country held last termwas as big as ever with a great
turnout of boys and spectators. It was a muddy track with a heavy downpour at one
point during the day, but all the same everyone gave it their all. This year the event
was held at Shore Road which, unlike most cross countries, was flat with no hills. But there
were plenty of muddy spots and waterlogged parts to negotiate! Afterwards, there was a
race to the changing rooms with boys and their muddy gear spilling out of the doorway.
Bruce House took out the overall House win of the day. The top 10 winners of the senior
competition went on to the Cross Country Eastern Zones, and King’s School came 2nd overall
which was a fantastic effort! George Cory-Wright and Joseph Nevill Jackson came 1st and 2nd
respectively in the individual standings. George then went on to win a 2nd place in the Auckland
Zone competition.
