Kingsway November 2013 Issue 12 - page 25

Kingsway:
What sort of photographic skills did you use to
get the pictures?
Oliver:
Camera delays, cropping, reflection, camera angles,
sunlight, sidelining.
Kingsway:
What sort of past history do you have related
to photography?
Oliver:
My grandfather is the President of the New Zealand
Photography Association. He is a professional photographer,
so I was inspired by him to learn the art of photography. The
competition was a great way to utilise my skills.
Kingsway:
Why did you choose the topic
‘Interesting Shoes’?
Oliver:
I found the previous topics (e.g. nature) not to be
so inspiring.
Kingsway:
What is one tip you’d like to give everyone
on how to be a good photographer?
Oliver:
Capture the essence of the moment.
Kingsway:
Is photography something you would like
do in the future?
Oliver:
Maybe, but I’m undecided on which career path
I would like to take. Also, I am more interested in the
Sciences than the Arts.
Oliver Zou and the other winners did a very good job
at executing their photographic skills and were well
deserving of the cups and certificates awarded to
them. We have a number of very good up and coming
photographers at King’s, so watch this space!
